Philological commentary

The meter has 4x15 syllables (8/7 or 7/8).
n1According to the calculation by Sieg/Siegling in Sieg and Siegling 1953: 149, pāda 2b ends after pälkṣäṃ and lacks two syllables. Sieg/Siegling also propose to correct svalwainsa into swañcainsa.
n3Interpreting iro as āroy.
