Commentary

Philological commentary

*End of the Araṇemi-jātaka. The translation of lines a1 and a2 follows Schmidt 2001: 327. Before line a1 the text may be supplemented with “(The Buddha, the teacher speaks: "Behold,) ye monks! ...” .
n1Restoration based on Thomas in Sieg and Siegling 1983: 249.

Remarks

*Of the recto of the leaf, three fragments have been preserved, of which only one preserves traces also on the verso.

Linguistic commentary

n2Note the hypercorrect diphthong in ślaukantse for ślokantse!
