Philological commentary
* | The comparison with the Berlin fragment A 295 proves that this fragment and YQ N.3 belong to immediately subsequent leaves, and helps to determine the recto and the reverse of each fragment. Besides that, the large fragment A 295 is the folio 67 of a manuscript. Since each act in the Tocharian version covers 15 leaves at the most, and by counting some leaves for the prologue, one would assume with some confidence that the fragments in question belong to the fifth act. But this assumption remains uncertain because we do not have any parallel text in the Old Uyghur version. See also Pinault 1999: 189-9. |
n1 | okät: cf. A 295 b5, end of the line. |
n2 | Cf. A 295 b6, end of the line. |
n3 | Cf. A 295 b7. |
n4 | End of the line: This is the end of a stanza in the tune Phulleṃ (cf. phullenaṃ, A 295 b7), type 4x14 (7/7). |
Remarks
* | Lines a1-2 and b7-8 are lost. |
