This fragment is probably the right part of a leaf without trace of the string hole. Traces of ruling are still visible. |
n1 | The form okotsai looks like the obl. sg. f. of the adjective oko(ts)tse, however, in this passage there is no feminine substantive with which it could agree. In theory it could be the epithet of the substantive maiyya 'strength'. The most likely hypothesis is a mistake due to a wrong analysis of the Sanskrit source text, in which the epithet 'fruitful' was constructed with Skt. śāntim (f.) which comes in the following Sanskrit phrase. |
---|
n2 | The literal translation of Skt. śama- 'exstinction' should be a verbal noun of the root käs-. Therefore the most likely restoration seems to be kekesorñe which is already attested in one passage in IOL Toch 221 a6, but kekesor in the same meaning could also be taken as an alternative. |
---|---|
n3 | The word colormetse is an adjective derived from noun colorme which is attested elsewhere (PK AS 17H a3, THT 355 b2). The precise meaning remains to be ascertained. |
n4 | The form ātse is written for āntse by common cluster simplification. In this context is the equivalent of Skt. skandha- in the philosophical meaning. |
