Commentary

Philological commentary

n1toṃ and tau could easily be confused, but only toṃ makes sense in this context.
n2At the end of the line, one may restore pälkṣantär ‘they burn’.
n3Maybe to be restored as ṣañ ñem, presumably ‘by oneself’, see // s· araṃśne salāte-ne • kUcatākmeṃ ṣañem ette ṣallāte • ‘… hüpfte in ihrem Herzen, [und] sie stürzte sich vom Söller herab’ (THT 109 b2; tr. Schmidt 1974: 279, 311).
n3This translation of caṅke will be justified in a forthcoming publication.
