Commentary
Philological commentary
| Note that the recto and verso of the fragment A 463 have to be reversed, cf. Couvreur 1967: 163. |
n1 | This line corresponds to A 461 and A 465 a3. |
n2 | This line corresponds to A 461 and A 465 a4. |
n3 | This line corresponds to A 461 and A 465 b2. |
n5 | This line corresponds to A 461 and A 465 b4. |
n6 | This line corresponds to A 461 and A 465 b5. |
n7 | The nt-participle yänmāṣṣeñcaṃ shows the late form of the nominative plural ending instead of standard -añ. |
n8 | This line corresponds to A 463 a4 ‹ b4. |
n9 | The form (ta)nmaṣṣitär is 3sg middle of the Kausativ of the root täm- 'to produce', cf. Malzahn 2010: 653. |
n10 | This line corresponds to A 463 a5 ‹ b5. |
Remarks
| The little fragment PK NS 516 completes the fragment PK NS 13 on the left side. The resulting fragment belongs to the middle part of a leaf including the right part of the string hole. The fragment belongs to a leaf of the same manuscript to which PK NS 12 belongs. The text contains Tocharian B translations of words and phrases of the Śrāmaṇyaphalasūtra. Some of them have parallels in Tocharian A, namely A 460 and A 466, A 461 and A 465. |
Linguistic commentary
n4 | The form puttaṅgaṃ is a misspelling for puttaṅkäṃ as translation of Skt. vibhajati and it matches Tocharian A putäṅkāṣ as restored in A 461 and A 465 b4. |
