There is only one Tocharian line on the verso side. On the blank space one can see single akṣaras written by a different hand, no doubt a writing excercise. The strange thing is that these single akṣaras have a far older ductus, as already correctly seen by Sieg/Siegling in Sieg and Siegling 1953: 388. According to the charts in Sander 1968, they can be dated into the Gupta period, i.e. into the 3rd/4th century. The Tocharian text is certainly much younger. |
n1 | śetk(o) is the only restoration leading to a yet attested word, though its meaning is unclear. |
---|---|
n3 | ṣyār(··) is unclear; since an initial ṣy is unusual, I would not exclude a separation ṣ yār(··). |
n4 | –nta(ṃ)ts is a gen.pl. form. |
n2 | läksaiñene shows the colloquial sound change a > ai before palatal consonant (see Peyrot 2008: 54f.). |
