Commentary

The hapax seems to be a loan word; since Skt. makūla- is the name of a special plan (Croton Polyandrum) (likewise Skt. makula--, which designates a tree and is used for 'bud'), we rather have to do with a wrong rendering of Skt. mūlaka- "root".
