Commentary

Philological commentary

n1This might be Sanskrit Sudhana-, the name of a famous prince, known from the Khotanese Sudhanāvadāna and from Kṣemendra's Avadānakalpalatā. Not with Ching 2017: 365 from Sudāna-, since we would expect sutāne in that case.
n2I don't segment this as pärso ñatti because of the accent of pärso and the syntax. It wouldn't make sense assume an appositional relation and fronting: 'The letter I have given ñatte as coins.' parso also never appears in contexts with the phrase cāneṃ ai-; in these contexts, personal names in the genitive are very common.
n3I interpret this as the i-genitive of a personal name, cf. TEB I: 105, §129.
