Commentary
Philological commentary
n1 | This might be Sanskrit Sudhana-, the name of a famous prince, known from the Khotanese Sudhanāvadāna and from Kṣemendra's Avadānakalpalatā. Not with Ching 2017: 365 from Sudāna-, since we would expect sutāne in that case. |
---|---|
n2 | I don't segment this as pärso ñatti because of the accent of pärso and the syntax. It wouldn't make sense assume an appositional relation and fronting: 'The letter I have given ñatte as coins.' parso also never appears in contexts with the phrase cāneṃ ai-; in these contexts, personal names in the genitive are very common. |
n3 | I interpret this as the i-genitive of a personal name, cf. TEB I: 105, §129. |
