Commentary

Philological commentary

täccone is an unexplained form that only occurs here.
n1A word of unclear meaning, also occurs in THT 490, where the form is kaukoṃ, not kaukaṃ.
n2cf. maṅkarāñcana in Pelliot Divers Bois Série C1, which Ching 2010: 345, 350 translates as 'old' and Ogihara (apud Ching 2010: 345) explains as as a loan word from an Iranian language, cf. Khotanese maṃgāra-.
