a1 | By the thousends, you gave up your diadem adorned heads previously. And for the kingdom over the ninety nine kings, you gave your life. |
---|---|
a1+ | ... you stood on the peak of the kings. |
a2 | I honor you as the king of Rishis, seated afar on the diamond throne. |
a2+ | Great-hearted, resolute one! You destroyed every way of intoxication for Māra... with the hero that is your heart. |
a3+ | You hit him together with the army of Kleśas in the heart. |
a4 | I honor your heart, hard and soft, with reverence. You, truster in the good thing, desisted from evil. |
a4+ | With four-fold trust, you trustingly went into Nirvāṇa. |
a5+ | I honor you, truster, worthy of all trusts. |
a6 | With (your) lives you bought the lives of honorable ones. You diligently guarded the rules of good behavior like your life. |
a6+ | Lord, as many stand in my heart, so many are your virtues. |
b1 | In all turns of life, may I not miss you, (who is) dearer than life to me. |
b1+ | As often as I think of your heart made without... by compassion, so often I go into your protection, o god, up to the marrow in the bones. |
b2+ | With the dipper (?) of my senses, I will drink your form without satiation. |
b3 | And with the heads of (my) birth I honor you, without measure or number. |
b3+ | What word is of the heart, that is to be spoken to someone dear. |
b4 | Having abandoned all dear ones, you (alone) are personally dear to me. I confess the places of my sin to your feet. |
b4+ | With the resolve of self-control, I ask from you (the opportunity to make) a confession. |
b5 | Because I, urged (?) by my faith, praised you, o praiseworthy one, because of that dead may the deeds of my tongue be washed away. |
b6 | May the light of knowledge appear for me, bit by bit. |
Other
(Schmidt 1974: 458) |
b1+ | As often as I think of your heart made without … by compassion, so often I go into your protection, o god, up to the marrow in the bones. (Peyrot 2013b: 321) |
(Schmidt 1974: 247) |
Commentary
Philological commentary
n1 | The word ādañcis far from clear. Even if it is related to ādaṃśa, like Adams 1999 argues, it cannot be construed as agreeing with mālatsai, since it isn't a feminine. |
