Commentary
Linguistic commentary
| The interpretation is uncertain. No word tuṅk is attested so far (a mixture of TB with snai and TA with tuṅk 'love' seems improbable). |
Philological commentary
| Glosses Skt. /// [s]th· ·[t]· c· – /// (Pauly 1967: 239 reads (s?)th· – c·). The reading of the first two akṣaras is certain, as well as the ä-dots and the virāma. The rest of the third akṣara seems not to be correct. It looks like ṅk, but the ṅ would be too high, as if added later when the k was already there. However, the ä-dots seem to indicate that the element here read as ṅ does indeed belong to the consonantal part of the akṣara. |
