Commentary

Linguistic commentary

The interpretation is uncertain. No word tuṅk is attested so far (a mixture of TB with snai and TA with tuṅk 'love' seems improbable).

Philological commentary

Glosses Skt. /// [s]th· ·[t]· c· – /// (Pauly 1967: 239 reads (s?)th· – c·). The reading of the first two akṣaras is certain, as well as the ä-dots and the virāma. The rest of the third akṣara seems not to be correct. It looks like k, but the would be too high, as if added later when the k was already there. However, the ä-dots seem to indicate that the element here read as does indeed belong to the consonantal part of the akṣara.
