Translation
| a1 | ... knows... Through obtainment, achievement, one has the attainment of the form. Through causes (hetu), one has so many causes ( hetu) for the form. |

| a2 | Through the fruit, one has the fruit of the form. |
| a2+ | Through one's own sign and through the common sign, one knows. |
| a3+ | The meaning which "knowing, discerning, considering" (has): Like thought knows and discerns the form in eight ways, just so it knows, discerns and considers through the power of prajñāin eight categories each dharma in eight ways. |
| a5 | One who knows in this way is called a prajñin. What is thinking ( vitarka)? |
| a5+ | Having as innate disposition the mind's coarseness, through the capacity of Vitarka the five Vijñānas will become gross. |
