Commentary

Composed of Skt. vīrya- and gupta-, with a middle Indian weakening in the second part. For a detailed explanation of the form, see cinaupte. Pinault 2002a: 248 explain the attested wiryaryaupteṃ as a dittography. Another example of the same phenomenon is attested in m-pkda507_34 a1-2 for jñānaṇarakṣiteṃnmeṃ, which is obviously should be reconstructed jñānarakṣite.
