Commentary

Derivative (diminutive?) of okt. According to Carling 2000: 275, it is a designation of some sort of festival. It could be the equivqlent os Skt. aṣṭamī- (Pinault 2008: 390) ‘the eighth day of the lunar half-month’ (cf. Edgerton 1953: 81,2) or aṣṭakā- ‘the eighth day after the full moon (particularly of the months Hemanta and Śiśira) when ancestors are honored’ (Adams 2013a: 116).
