Commentary

According to Tremblay 2005a: 430, a Sogdian name *Nazučī- or *Nāz-ičā-, hypocoristic of *nāzu- 'delight' (cf. Sogdian n'wk, n'z'kk Anc. Letter IV,3). He cites as parallels the names N'z found in Semirečie (Chwolson 1897: 197), Old Persian in Elamite Na-su-uk-ka, Middle Persian N'dwk, N'cwky and N'cydy.
