Commentary
Translation by carlingandpinault2023: carnivore, jackal
;To be judged by the context a species of carnivore associated with carrion and corpses. Not 'flies' (thus Couvreur 1959: 252b). Burlak and Itkin 2010: 354-6 propose "jackal", which is supported by cemetery scenes from Qizil paintings (see Howard and Vignato 2014: 109 on Qizil Caves 116 and 220 depicting jackals and vultures eating corpses).
