| Introduction of the Araṇemi-Jātaka. According to Schmidt 2001: 303, the beginning of the text can at least partially be reconstructed as follows with the help of A 344 b 1-2: “Thereupon the two Tuṣita-gods, Jñānasthita [and] Guṇasaṃpada appear. Jñānasthita speaks: ...”. | |
| The text is continued immediately by Pelliot Ouïgour I, 13-67 (Hamilton 1986: 1-20). From the latter's line 42 on, there are two Tocharian versions available as well, yielding a somewhat longer piece of text: one in TA (A 342), and one in TB (THT 79). | |

| n1 | TEB II: 49, fn. 1 and again Thomas in Sieg and Siegling 1983: 234 restore s(nai nerke)nta "without hesitation" ("sinngemäß", i.e. "to that effect"), but we would not expect a plural form here (cf. sg. snai nerke in THT 100 a 5). To be sure, the reading 〈nta〉 at the beginning of a4 is a more likely one in any case than 〈tta〉 (thus Sieg/Siegling), since there are very few TB words ending in -tta; snai, on the other hand, is certain because one can still see remains of the 〈n〉 below the 〈s〉. |
