Announcements

  • The Zotero library underlying the CEToM bibliography is now public and can be viewed here.
  • We would like to thank Prof. Dr. Thomas Oberlies and Pratik Rumde from the Seminar für Indologie und Tibetologie of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen for providing our project with scans of the nachlass of Wilhelm Siegling. The nachlass includes letters to and from Siegling throughout his career that are of great importance to the history of the field of Tocharian studies. This material will be published on CEToM, accompanied by transcriptions of the letters, in the course of 2024.

Commentary

Parallel texts

Hartmann 1987: 92-95

Philological commentary

n1 cf. 2.8a ata evābhinirhṛtya.
n2 /// te: either 2.8d te or 2.9b namo'rhate. to might be to[s](a\) 'these', but a precise parallel in the Skt. text is not found.
n3 : restoration uncertain. wmār 'jewel' as the translation of Skt. ratna, frequent in these strophes, is excluded.
n4 either 2.11a–b rūparatnātmabhāvāya cittaratnāntarātmane or 2.13a–b namas te rūparatnāya cittara(tnā)ya te nama(ḥ) (in the latter case, it would provide the tnā restored by Hartmann 1987: 95).
n5 wināsam: probably (ci) wināsam 'I honour you' v.s., as a translation of e.g. 2.11d, 2.12d, 2.13b, 2.13d te namaḥ.
