Commentary
Philological commentary
| n1 | Likely from Sanskrit ajñāta(ka) 'unknown', from which an abstract noun was derived by means of the Tocharian suffix -ñe (cf. upāsakñe) |
| n2 | At first sight, surye looks like sa 10. However, I haven't been able to find another example of a '10' with something that looks like an e-diacritic on top of it (there are examples of 10 with a sort of hook). Thus I have concluded that the left part of the '10' is actually the u-diacritic of 'su', and that the '10' is actually a 'rye'. |
| n3 | Maybe a mistake for po śaiṣṣentse? |
