Commentary

Philological commentary

n1This looks like the late form of a putative *kewyauntsa.
n2This is a hapax legomenon.
n3Ching claims that the only possible restorations here are asaṃntse (gen. sg. of ās 'goat') or asaṃntaññe 'caprine'.
n4Interestingly, there are two virāma-dots, one on 'ṣa' and one on 'ṅK'. This could be a 'transitional form' of just writing a line above the two akṣaras.
