Philological commentary

*Because of its scantiness this leaf fragment, belonging to part 2 of the Apramādavarga (IV), could not be translated. Since only one strophe number is preserved, recto and verso side cannot be established with certainty. The metre appears to be 4x12 syllables, in a 5/7 rhythm. It is certain, however, that line a4 “with a broken axle he is then (much) dejected” (most likely to be supplemented to give meṃ(ṣtr olyapotse :)) belongs to a translation of Uv IV 17 and renders chinnākṣaḥ śocate bhṛśam. This then also then gives us (spelkke) yāmi “(The sage) may (strive)” as the end of the translation of Uv IV 16 dhīraḥ parākramet.

Remarks

*Small fragment of the left side of a leaf, reaching to the schnurloch.
