Commentary

Philological commentary

*Transliteration by Ogihara 2014: 121, translation based on him. The language of the first caption is unclear, the second is clearly TA. Ogihara compares the name to the Chinese proper name Sirmir attested in Uyghur documents (as per p.c. by Prof. Matsui and Dr. Kitsudo).

Remarks

*Two captions above a wall painting labeled "Tocharian Donors in Black Hats" on exhibition in the Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg (Ogihara 2014: 120, fn. 21).
*The press mark used here is provisorial.
